ABOUT ŌHHH

OUR MISSION

Ōtepoti Hip-Hop Hustle seeks to diversify and strengthen arts and culture in Dunedin by creating dynamic opportunities for the local and national hip-hop community.

Ōtepoti Hip-Hop Hustle began as an intimate show in 2018 as a part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival program. It was originally called “On The Fringes Of Society” and it had a live Graffiti Battle, Freestyle Rap Cyphers and Turntablism on display. An exceptional success, however there was no Hip-Hop/Break Dancing that night, so Jonny Waters (ŌHHH Producer) invited Lisa Wilkinson (Director of  RASA School of Dance) to be involved in the next one. So since 2019, RASA students and tutors have held down the foundation of most Dance performances and many have been able to witness the full force of the ‘4 Elements of Hip-Hop’ at the ŌHHH shows.

Our team also includes Joanna Livingston, an exceptional photographer and our very own marketing/socials guru. Mario Leoni, talented DJ artist who assists greatly in the technical side of set up. Mason Robust aka PHX MC who’s enthusiasm for the culture never fades, our own Master of Ceremonies. The hyper-connected Hamish Marchant with stage management and artist liaison. And last but not least, the lovely Tali Joy who also assists with stage management and puts on a killer set.

ŌHHH encourages Hip-Hop to thrive in Dunedin & beyond.
